Guidelines for Mentor:

YCPN has set a handful of guidelines meant solely for a mentor, it's mainly the

dos and don'ts that will keep you on the right track as long as you cling on to them.

  1. Be prepared, know YCPNs thoroughly.
  2. On your first call - Mentor need to develop a good rapport with the mentee that's rooted in trust and respect. It includes introducing yourself, introducing YCPN – its aim and object, and getting to know the first-hand information about the Mentee. Try to win his/her trust at the first place.
  3. Don't be too close to your mentee - only the professional limitation will do.
  4. Don't feed the mentee, but teach them how to do things by their own ability.
  5. Don't be so perfectionist upon your mentee.
  6. Don’t make fake promises to your mentee, it will break his/her trust on you. Be honest to your mentee.
  7. Don't try to solve all their problems, rather help them to develop ideas to solve their own problem(s). Eg. By suggesting them.......what kind of steps do you want to take up in the first place? And if that doesn't work, what would be your next approach?
  8. Refer your mentee to other mentor(s) if needed. Never share your mentee's profile to others. if you cannot keep things in private you are not fit to be a mentor.
  9. It is better not to judge your mentee on his/her action or life - style. Accept them as they are.
  10. Remember a single mistake of yours is a mistake of our network i.e. YCPN.
  11. Always remember you are not above these rules.
  12. It will be appreciated if a mentor could talk to his/her mentee every week and give a report every last Sunday of the month in the group i.e. WhatsApp group.
  13. Mentors are welcome to share ideas and suggestions for the well - being of YCPN to the WhatsApp group. But please do not bring up un-related topic(s).
  14. Above all remember you are just an instrument of change; all the credits should be credited to God.
